“Crammed with fruit” is right.

Here’s a white wine blend that caught me off guard. If I drank this blindly I would’ve guessed Sauvignon Blanc – there’s so much flower and fruit (honey, apricot) action on the nose, that I’d swear it had to be! But, I’d be wrong.

About two-thirds (63%) of this “Incognito” blend is composed of Viognier, followed by Chardonnay, and Muscat. SB is way down the list only constituting 5%.

This is a unique, and definitely personality driven wine if I ever saw (and tasted) one. Michael David Winery sent us both this and also a Syrah. Between the two this was my favorite, though I’d not sure I’d pop one everyday. Ironically, for a wine that bills itself as secretive it sure is willing to make a bold statement.

The blend was bottled about 9 months ago, and could use a bit more time to settle down (especially for us guys who favor mellow, smooth flavor profiles); amazingly, this might be the first wine I’ve tasted that spent Zero (0, naughta) time aging in a barrel.

If you fancy yourself a Kim Crawford fan, chances are you’ll enjoy this reasonably priced white from Lodi (inland, east of San Francisco).
