In case you missed the wonderful Pinot on the River up in Sonoma that took place over the weekend, here’s another wine tasting that’s come up on the Stark Insider radar that we wholeheartedly recommend.
PinotFest is billed as San Francisco’s original, all-Pinot Noir “bacchanalia.” Or, as organizers also refer to it as: a public tasting of a sexy wine.
Farallon Restaurant will once again host the event, which takes place this November.

The extensive tasting of Pinot Noirs from over 50 of Oregon and California’s best producers features hors d’oeuvres to complement the wines and an opportunity to meet the winemakers.
Should you decide to go, here’s some of our quick picks:
1. Williams Selyem
Always top flight. Exceptional quality, smooth, elegant (review). Absolutely a treat.
2. Merry Edwards
Recently inducted into the Napa Vintner’s Hall of Fame, Merry Edwards is not only one of Napa Valley’s top women winemakers, she’s one of the country’s best winemakers, period. You can watch Merry being inducted during the ceremony that also featured critic Robert Parker, labor leader César Chávez and wine writer Frank Schoonmaker:
3. Robert Sinskey
Also, refined Pinot, brimming with personality. Did you know: not only does Robert Sinskey plant vines, but he has also allocated part of his land to cultivate truffles. Learn more about that: Truffles in America (Video).
Those are just three of many top drawer wines on offer. Earlier this year we picked the 2010 Cambria Estate as the Stark Insider wine of the week (as seen in lead photo).
Tickets are $100, but afford the opportunity to taste some of the best Pinots available anywhere on the West Coast. Quick suggestion: no doubt there will be cheeses on hand to pair with these Pinots, but don’t be afraid to give dark chocolate an opportunity too!
