Organizers have announced the details of U2’s upcoming iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE tour. Good news for those located in and around the San Francisco Bay Area. The much heralded North American and European concert dates include two nights in San Jose at the SAP Center.
U2 fans should mark their calendars for May 18 and 19, 2015. According to Live Nation that’s when the new arena tour–the first in a decade–is scheduled to make its stop here in San Jose.
Tickets go on sale December 8.
“We are going to try to have a completely different feeling from night one to night two,” said Bono, “and have some fun playing with the idea of innocence and experience. More to be revealed!”
Recently Bono experienced a cycling mishap in New York, and has undergone treatment for several injuries. The U2 frontman is widely expected to be ready for the opening night performance of the new tour, scheduled for May 14 in Vancouver, Canada.
The tour follows the recent release of U2’s thirteenth studio album Songs Of Innocence by Island Records, which was given to U2.com subscribers and gifted by Apple to over half a billion iTunes Music Store customers worldwide. To date, Songs of Innocence has been streamed 81 million times and has been downloaded by 30 million fans.
Songs of Innocence has received generally favorable reviews. Notably, Rolling Stone magazine gave it a perfect score, saying the new album is a “triumph of dynamic, focused, renaissance.” Others weren’t quite as enthusiastic. L.A. Times noted cautioned listeners not to “expect U2 at its best.”
The 19 city tour comes to a close on December 8, 2015 in Paris.
