My third oil painting is starting to shape up and I am feeling more hopeful that it will not turn out to be a complete disaster.
I already told Lee Hartman, my instructor that if it does turn out horribly, I will make sure it is prominently displayed at the November 15th art show at University Art with a clear note that she is the instructor of the student that created the monstrosity. I know, I’m terrible!
You can see the improvement of the painting above with the snapshot I took of it from last week:
I really enjoy the way Lee teaches oil painting. She gives the right balance of feedback and still encourages a student’s own style. “Does the painting talk to you?” she frequently asked in the last class. You can feel the excitement in the air as many students are getting ready to show off their pieces at the art show.
If you are interested in attending, it is at the University Art in San Jose on Sunday November 15, 2009. Drop by if you are free, there will be a chocolate fountain (yum) and many wonderful paintings by other students of Lee.
I will be there too with my two measly paintings which I will overprice because I really don’t want to part with them… but everything has a price and if someone is willing to pay me what I will list them at, I will part ways with my first paintings.
