Solar Update: August 2009

The days are getting shorter as shown by the drop in generation of solar energy from our Sunpower system. However, I have hardly noticed the shorter daylight hours this past month. It seems that life is moving at an ever faster pace and the only two areas I find some...

Omnivore’s Dilemma: The pleasures, perils and ethics of choice

Michael Pollan, in 'Omnivore's Dilemma' attempts to trace back the history of four very different meals: one from a fast food chain, one based on the multitude of Organic-labeled food, another from a sustainably-farmed meal and finally a meal that was foraged by the author himself. If you don't know...

My second oil painting: Three pears in a pod

Theater review: ‘Brief Encounter’ a masterful composition of classic cinema and theater

Lights, camera, action! The romance of classic cinema—think Humphrey Bogart—married with the immersion of live theatre whisked me off for a brief rendezvous. It started innocently as any other theatre visit to the ACT on opening night; some murmur of excitement is always expected with the rolling out of the...
